Largest Investment in Company’s History to Boost North American Market Presence
Ziehl-Abegg is set to make its most significant investment yet, committing $100 million towards the establishment of a state-of-the-art production plant designed to cater to the North American market. CEO Dr. Marc Wucherer emphasized the importance of this development, noting that it represents the largest single-site investment in the company’s 113-year history. This ambitious project is driven by the growing demand for the company’s energy-efficient, quiet, and durable fans across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Rapid Growth and Expansion in the North American Market
Since its establishment in 2004, Ziehl-Abegg’s Greensboro, North Carolina, site has seen exponential growth, with employee numbers rising from 0 to 40 in its first decade and surging to 230 in the last eight years. Projections indicate that by 2030, the workforce in the U.S. will swell to 800. The headquarters in Greensboro currently oversees operations across North America, supported by eleven sales offices serving the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
New Winston-Salem Facility to Enhance Production Capabilities
The new manufacturing plant will be located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, approximately 20 kilometers from the current site. Spanning 46,500 square meters, the facility is scheduled for completion in 2024, with relocation set for 2025. COO Joachim Ley highlighted that the new plant will significantly boost production capacity and increase vertical integration, with a focus on fully self-contained production processes. The site will feature advanced equipment, including winding machines, welding robots, and CNC machines, along with a high-bay warehouse to optimize storage. Additionally, plans are in place to establish a development hub with a laboratory for extensive air measurement and motor testing.
