Expanded Operations at Bluefors' U.S. Facility

Significant Expansion in Cryogenic Production

Bluefors, a leader in cryogenic measurement systems primarily for quantum computing, has officially unveiled the expansion of its manufacturing plant in Syracuse, New York. This expansion enhances the production of Cryomech brand cryocoolers and introduces the manufacturing of dilution refrigerators in the U.S., marking a first for the company. The development increases the plant’s output by approximately 45%, underscoring Bluefors’ commitment to supporting the burgeoning quantum technology sector.

Strategic Enhancement in Quantum Cooling Technology

The Syracuse expansion reflects Bluefors’ strategic initiative to address the increasing demand for cryogenic systems necessary for quantum computing and other high-tech applications. Jonas Geust, CEO of Bluefors, highlighted the expansion as a milestone that positions the company as the largest U.S. manufacturer of dilution refrigerators. The enhanced facility will not only increase production capacity but also boost research and development efforts within the region.

Supporting Broader Scientific and Medical Research

The use of Bluefors’ advanced cooling technology extends beyond quantum computing; it is vital in medical research and life sciences, providing essential low temperatures for various scientific applications. With an anticipated 17% annual growth in the global quantum technology market by 2040, Bluefors is preparing to meet this demand head-on. Additionally, the company aims to improve service delivery and operational efficiency in North America through a new spare parts center in Syracuse, enhancing support for clients in both the U.S. and Canada.
