Expansion of Manufacturing Operations in Maysville
Mitsubishi Electric US (MEUS) has revealed plans to bolster its manufacturing footprint by investing $143.5 million in Maysville, Kentucky. The existing facility will be repurposed to produce heat pump compressors, marking a significant milestone as the first U.S. factory to manufacture advanced twin-rotary variable capacity compressors, typically produced in Asia. This expansion is expected to generate 122 new jobs in the local community.
Commitment to Sustainable Technologies
Mike Corbo, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Electric US, expressed his gratitude to the Commonwealth of Kentucky for supporting this initiative. “Mitsubishi Electric is thankful for the incentives provided by Kentucky to sustain our manufacturing presence in the Bluegrass State. At our core, we are committed to creating technologies that promote vibrant and sustainable societies. This revamped facility will enable us to produce compressors for our highly efficient heat pump systems domestically, creating new jobs and investing in technologies that make American homes more comfortable, sustainable, and cost-effective to heat and cool. This collaboration represents a significant stride towards our shared goals,” Corbo stated.
Support from State Leadership
Governor Andy Beshear praised the project, emphasizing its importance for both Mitsubishi Electric and Kentucky. “Meeting with Mitsubishi Electric’s leadership during last week’s economic development visit to Japan was an honor. We discussed our enduring partnership and the growth potential this project offers. The establishment of this facility underscores Mitsubishi Electric’s leadership in all-climate heat pump systems and highlights the critical importance of investing in U.S. manufacturing. Congratulations to the company’s leadership for their decision to reinvest in Kentucky,” Governor Beshear remarked.
This initiative not only strengthens Mitsubishi Electric’s position in the U.S. market but also reinforces the company’s dedication to sustainable technology and local job creation.
