Hitachi Rail and ROBOZE Partnership for 3D Printing Spare Parts

Prioritize cost optimization and production efficiency:

Railway Supply has reported that Hitachi Rail and ROBOZE have partnered to produce spare parts at their facilities in Naples, Italy, and Washington County, Maryland, USA, using state-of-the-art three- dimensional (3D) printing technology. By replacing traditional metal parts with state-of-the-art materials like Carbon PEEK composite and ULTEM 9085 thermoplastic using ARGO 500 3D printers, the alliance will optimize the manufacturing process. It is anticipated that this change will greatly lower production costs and speed up delivery.

Expansion Beyond Equipment Supply:

The partnership extends beyond the provision of 3D printing machines. ROBOZE will also offer engineering services and consulting support, ensuring continuous and specialized assistance for Hitachi Rail. Through meticulous and precise component manufacturing, this extensive partnership seeks to improve both businesses’ production and innovation capacities, ultimately improving the quality and dependability of Hitachi Rail’s trains.

New High-Tech Facilities and Future Prospects:

Hitachi Rail’s new state-of-the-art railcar factory in Hagerstown, Maryland, is set to commence operations soon. The first contract for the supply of 8000 series metro cars with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) was signed in March 2021. This cooperation is a big step toward ensuring efficient spare parts production at the new facility. On top of that, it will significantly improve the quality and reliability of Hitachi Rail’s trains.
