Nipro Medical Corp., a renowned Japanese medical device manufacturer, has selected Greenville, NC, as the site for its first North American production facility. This strategic move involves an investment nearing $400 million over five years and is projected to create over 232 new jobs in the region.
Renal Care Devices at the Forefront
Founded in 1954 in Osaka, Nipro Medical operates 27 manufacturing plants globally, employing more than 29,000 people. Specializing in renal, vascular, and surgical devices, the company’s new North Carolina facility will focus on producing advanced medical devices for diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and other renal health issues. Highlighting the significance of this venture, Nipro emphasized the importance of local production in ensuring the availability of high-quality medical devices for life-saving treatments.
Sustainability and Workforce Development
This new plant marks a significant milestone in Nipro’s sustainability efforts, aimed at reducing global transportation and carbon emissions. Senior Managing Director of Global Business, Tsuyoshi Yamazaki, stated, “Our new facility in Greenville is a major milestone in our sustainability journey, reflecting our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.” The Pitt County facility will offer diverse roles ranging from engineering and production to administrative and management positions, with Nipro seeking individuals who value ownership, flexibility, and team spirit.
Governor Roy Cooper welcomed Nipro to North Carolina, emphasizing the state’s reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing. “This initiative not only reinforces our status as a prime location for advanced manufacturing but also demonstrates our state’s capability in providing a skilled workforce and a superior quality of life,” Cooper said.
