New Food Manufacturing Facility Approved with SEDCO’s $2.1 Million Investment
Sherman’s reputation as a hub for chip manufacturing is about to grow, with the Sherman Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) greenlighting a new $50 million food manufacturing plant. On Tuesday, SEDCO approved a $2.1 million investment to bring Florida-based Easy Foods, known for its flour and corn tortillas and tortilla chips, to town.
Advanced Manufacturing to Create Over 200 Jobs in Sherman
The new facility, spanning nearly 200,000 square feet and situated on 30 acres in Progress Park VI, will add more than 200 jobs to the local economy. This project, adjacent to the $25 million Molinos corn mill approved last month, marks a significant expansion in Sherman’s advanced manufacturing sector, particularly in agricultural and food products.
Infrastructure Enhancements Pave the Way for New Developments
To support these new developments, SEDCO will invest about $1 million in infrastructure, including roads and railroads. The enhancements are necessary to accommodate the increased industrial activity and ensure efficient operations for Easy Foods and Molinos. With the combined capital expenditure of both companies nearing $100 million, Sherman’s industrial landscape is set for substantial growth.
Easy Foods is eager to begin production, bringing additional variety to Texoma’s chip manufacturing capabilities, further solidifying Sherman as a key player in the industry.
